Well Just connected everything back up after the engine swap and fitted the heat shield as recommended
Now we come to the wiring so I connected the wires as removed from the old engine but the oil light dosen't work ( It did with the old engine)
As the removed engine was the earlier type DG and the newer engine is the later version I've just read on the BW site that the later engine also has a buzzer and a further switch!
Am I connecting my light wire to the wrong switch or what is going on?
Use exactly the same oil pressure switch on the underside of the engine, as the switch on the early DG.
Not the switch behind the pulley.
The switch behind the pulley would only be used if you have a dash with the dynamic oil pressure circuit board behind the speedometer head.
The famed buzzer of doom.
It is not essential to add the wiring for the buzzer of doom, as many people report it as being more trouble than it is worth.
1983 Tin Top with a poorly DF and 4 speed DT box.
1987 Electrics and a DJ engine.
Maybe one day I might get it finished

That's great I knew I would get an answer on here and I've not been let down
I may have inadvertently misled you all on this one!
I didn't realise that the removed old engine was in fact a DF not a DG. The oil pressure switch connection was down by the water pump but when I connect the wire to that connection on the DG ithe light doesn't come on?
the low pressure oil switch should be between the left side pushrods, regardless of engine type, if you have an early van with single oil pressure wire that's the one you need to be connected to, it is closed when oil pressure is zero, so ignition on, engine not running, and switch disconnected the oil light should go out as dash thinks the switch is open (ie thinks engine running and oil p over 3psi). If you earth the wire to the body and turn ignition on oil light should be on. Testing the wiring rules out a failed or incorrectly fitted switch.
What year is the van ? If built August 1985 onwards you should have 2 wires and 2 switches
