Hi all, I'm in the process of replacing my starter motor bush and I have this earth wire which I've found hanging. As per the pics, one end attached, where should the loose end attach?
No. The body of the starter motor when bolted to the bellhousing acts as earth.
That strap, however, may well be an additional earth strap. Original set up should be one strap running from gearbox mount to chassis. Some owners' add another strap (this one?). Where does it go to?

I honestly can't see where it goes to. It looks as if it wasn't attached and it's only when I put the starter motor back on that I saw it. I've checked the strap which attaches to the gearbox and that's intact and quite new looking so I think maybe this is an additional one.
It’s deffo additional. If it was me I’d see if it runs to one of the starter motor bolts and if it’s long enough stick it under one of them. Maybe take it to local battery centre and get them to crimp another terminal on first.
Thanks ELVIS. From looking at it, the shape of the bends in it suggest it was originally under the lower starter motor securing nut. I'll put it back there.
Just re-reading this. You are replacing starter motor bush. Did it have starting difficulties?
It may also help to remove dirt and corrosion from the starter motor face and bellhousing area with scotchbrite or similar before remounting starter.
