Ah, If that's all it is then that's fine. It's just that my earlier version doesn't have that hole just the one on the left of your photo.

Aha, noticed you’re fitting new exhaust as I am on mine .
On mine studs all round apart from bolts on manifold nearest Water Pump .
Out of curiosity are you using studs on that manifold, or bolts ?

I'm the opposite way around then! Studs on RHS front manifold and bolts on the rest. That's how it was before and seemed to work ok. :rofl

I haven't decided yet. Probably studs and nuts all around for manifold pipes. Then using bolts and nuts for pipework connector flanges.
Early exhaust system had a mixture studs and bolts l recall.

Yup, mine’s early system which if I was younger would have changed to more robust later one .
At coming to mid seventies :( longevity of the exhaust isn’t an issue now :rofl
Regarding the mixture of studs/bolts, I get the impression when built was all studs . The one nearest Water Pump looks tight with studs , but I’ll give it a go tomorrow .
Hope yours both go ok .

I'm pretty certain the early system used some bolts, probably because of the tight turns of the manifold pipes coming from cylinders 1 and 3?
