JX TD - Pump sprocket marks

Post by StoneRoses »

Hi

1.6TD JX

Injection pump sprocket has two holes sized to take the locking pin. So how do I know which one to use to lock the pump before fitting the timing belt ?

I've referred to Bentley et al, but I can't  find any mark on the sprocket itself. The only mark I can see is this white paint on the pump body:

thanks,
Gareth.

There should be a notch on the front edge of the sprocket, that should line up with the mark on the sheet metal cover behind it.

I can see both the notch and the mark behind:

Nice one Zoltan, cheers 👍I guess I missed it with naked eye cos my van is a Karmann Gipsy so my engine access is primarily from the inside, so I've not got visuals onto that face of the pulley. Although I should nave spotted it in the pic I took by lowering smartphone into place.

Cheers mate, you've helped me along no end 👍
