Wipers

Post by Michael4 »

Very silly question, you would have thought that a 70+ year old would be able to cope with buying new wipers.

The wipers on the van are 18".

JK sells 18" for a T25. Hella, keen price.

BW sells one 21" and one 20" for a T3 as a pair. They say they are bigger (obviously) and better. A wee bit more £ than JK, no brand stated.

I am a BW fan.

Do 21" and 20" actually fit and if so, which one fits where?

I thought it would be so simple...

I don't much like the bigger blades, they wipe a larger area in theory but the curve of our screen can mean they aren't the best or that the advantage isn't always evident, I tend to run 19"/480mm both sides, but 18"/450mm is original

BW idea is an upgrade and a very good one as the original setup is inadequate.

Go Aerotwin blades (universal fit) a better upgrade with above.

if its the price thats important then GSF (drivetec) 2 pound each

I bought some aero ones (20" 21") from home bargains. They do the job just fine. They are more flexible than standard ones so bend to the screen better.

21” goes on the drivers side BTW

More friction being longer. Only experience I had recently was the metal spindle on the van wore out the softer metal of the hole in the arm of the wiper blade. Now whether that’s because I took about 3 attempts to mount them, so they lay horizontal when parked or the extra friction over time, who knows.

I found the aero style ones not that great on the van tbh

Currently using

IIRC I bought the above and a second set that had 2x20 1x19

So 3 sets of 20/19 for £19 at the time of purchase…. They have gone up a little since then.

21" fits.
You can use the 21" for the driver's side and the 20 for the passenger.
I use 22" and 21" respectively.

Having had a good look at the wiper arm springs which of course are part of the equation, 21 and 20" now on their way.

Thanks all.
