Brake Servo.

Post by golfingtam »

Can I fit a servo from a 2.0litre Transporter straight into my 1.6 air-cooled Transporter, or do I need to change the pedal box too? ( I don't have a servo fitted at the moment.)  Thanks in advance.

it looks from the parts catalogue as if the bracket maybe different but the part numbers aren't shown any longer but there was a version with no suffix and a suffix A, if you can get the whole assembly that should work, as the pedal is different too between non-servo and servo brakes, one acting directly on the brake master and one working via clevis on the servo

From the pics on the net, it seems like the non-servo has a press bent sheet metal bracket for the pedals, while the servo one has a cast aluminium bracket. All different shape.

I would say you will need a complete late assembly with brake master and reservoir.

Thanks for your replies. I will need to look at my pedal box to see if it is the same as your photos. Thanks again.

Just checked with crazydiamond the CU bracket is pressed steel for the servo so you need the complete CU pedal, bracket and servo set up - you probably won't easily be able to fit the later cast alloy bracket set up as the air-cooled shell will be slightly different
