Sliding door handle

Post by caffers2 »

I have fitted a new sliding door handle as the old one was removed completely. It's a 1983 but the 1983 handle doesn't fit I was told so I bought the later handle. It works but there's a slight gap between the handle and the door. Am I missing a rubber seal that fits here?

Many thanks

My sliding door handle .... has "fallen" off.

Well it was tight to operate and has broken.

Mine is a 1983 van , early cooling system.
Are we saying that both early and late door handles will fit and work,?
as the late ones are cheaper!

Late handles fit on early doors and operate the lock fine. I had one for over 10 years without knowing although the contoured nobble that would be by your little finger when gripping the handle fully with your hand needs cutting off/grinding down a touch so it doesn't scratch the door paint.

Thanks slowcoach, that's all I need to know!

I'll try and get an early one but the price seems to be double.

Can get t2 ones cheaper, which I find hard to believe!

Thanks for the extra detail, I'll have the grinder to hand!
