Steering column slid!

Post by tlg »

Whilst trying to line up the steering column housing bracket with my dash after replacing the heater, i managed to be a bit too forceful and the bracket housing, with ignition and stalk set, slide up. it popped out the spacer at the top and revealed the bearing/metal coney thing at the bottom. It won't seem to slide back down, at least without force, so i'm not sure quite what i've done.

Any pointed welcome!

Check further down the column, there’s a disconnect portion for accidents, most likely it’s popped apart, line it up and pop it back in

Interesting, that sounds promising, although i've tried with a bit of a push and no joy. to me, it looks like everything has slid up from the bearing. Is that still consistent with accident thingy?
