Clutch slave issue - brand question
Hi all,
My clutch bite point has been slowly dropping and won't disengage this morning - last time this happened the clutch slave was worn out ( 7 years ago). Garage did previous change so not sure of provenance of current unit. Fluid level is good.
normally I would be buying brickwerks OE but this is out of stock
In stock options:
Brickwerks - alternate - £26
Ebay - Meyle - £31
Just Kampers - Bosch - £76
Heritage - all options out of stock
Any recommendations or should I just go for the brickwerks alternate and not worry about it?

Ta very much

Good question - not an easy thing to check and maybe a good excuse to get a borescope camera
By the feel of the pedal, a catastrophic failure of the linkage wouldn't have been such a gradual drop in bite point - I managed to get the clutch to disengage once, albeit with difficulty, this morning

Re: Clutch slave issue - brand question
There only a few manufacturers of these cylinders. My guess is max 3-4.
This means most brands sell the same reboxed in the same price range.
I am not familiar with the Bosch, but the other cheaper ones seems to be the same.
The rubber boot could be a problem if the rubber disintegrates quickly.
I bought A.B.S. branded one in 2017 and it is still working fine.

Re: Clutch slave issue - brand question
Bosch are just a BRAND boxer nowadays I think, I got an oil filter of theirs, afaics it's a made in Germany Mann at just over 1/2 the price of the Mann (but they don't seem to do the W719/12); if the one in their box is ATE or FAG then great, but it could just be the same as a £25 one. JK sales maybe able to advise; for that money I'd want a 2 year warranty

I'm currently looking at mine. I have some pics to upload - give me 5 mins and I will show you one out of the van.

Iv'e been festering on the ide of a home brew electric clutch servo. So where is all that cabootle situated - obviously the clutch pedal but how is it accessed to check? out?

It's all on the pedal assembly under the dash, where you clutch master cylinder is etc.
The top is there your brake servo and fluid reservoir resides.
In my last pic you can see the repair. A Bronze bushing installed to hopefully reduce reoccurance.
( My Stepdad did that - I'm not that good! )
This is a spare I am installing the BMW E30 brake servo onto also before installing into the van. I can then recover my worn one, fix that too and sell it probably.

I was going to put a bush in mine after I had welded it back up but decided that there wasn't enough meat there to do it with the bushes that I had to hand.

To be honest, without a bush they've lasted all these years. Probably will last many years more without one again.

Could just be the slave rod end worn. Try a small spacer to give a little more travel
