Hi
Hope someone can help me out here, my oil pressure relief valve seal started leaking (1.9 1990 water-cooled). I changed the seal and spring seeing as it was out, drove off and after a few yards the oil pressure warning came on.
I am going to take it back off and put the origional spring in tonight but any feedback from those who have experience of this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Re: Oil pressure relief
Did you put the mini piston back in first, followed by the spring? No offence, but I did this ‘twice’! many moons ago.

Re: Oil pressure relief
Hi thank you.
Yes I took it back out and reassembled using the old parts and it was sorted.
I now need to research the forum again as I used it and it ran fine, however on another trip last night the engine completely failed. It has a lot of miles on it and was smoking, especially after long hill descents, so i'm not surprised it has reached the end of its life.
Need to source a recommended engine supplier who fellow forum members recommend. Fancied a 'big bore' but spotted a few posts saying waste of time, so may end up with a rebuilt 1.9 DG Wasserboxer same as origional. (Mines a 1990).
Thanks

Personally I’d take the opportunity to go to 2.1L, you can transfer all the ancillaries over including the carb. & dizzy.
