Oil change??? T3 2LTR

Post by Swissy0 »

Hi any help please ,what is the correct length for my t3 1980 2l air-cooled engines dip stick I've just done an oil change book says 3.5 litres including oil filter but dip stick is dry ??? Added another half litre so now 4 in total, seemed to take out a lot more ?? Either book is wrong or incorrect dip stick ?

Hi, book's right I believe. I measured total length of dipstick from the black stop of 57cm. Attached some rubbish pictures to verify. Happy campering.

I never realised the 2L engine only took 3.5L. I thought all petrol engines took 4.5L

So does that mean that the tube the dipstick fits into is wrong? Or, do you have a sump extension. Only seen pictures, but looks like a additional shallow sump that bolts under the engine. Provides more surface for cooling and an increase in oil volume?
