Water Pump Squeak

Hi all,
Whilst driving my T25 1.9 DG I recently noticed a continuous squeak coming from the engine. I’ve investigated and had a look at the pulleys. Whilst checking to see if the water pump pulley had any play I gave it a spin and found it to be squeaking when I turned it. I’ve attached a video of it, hopefully it works! Does this mean the water pump is on its way out?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Water Pump Squeak
Sounds as if it is rubbing against something like a pipe, instead of rotating in one direction have you tried to and fro to identify the location where it maybe making contact.

Deffo worn bearing in my opinion. Get a new waterpump
Pulling & pushing pulley towards and away from pump housing will be the test to do.
Dont let end up like this....
with an overheated engine to boot!

Re: Water Pump Squeak
My water pump failed shortly after buying my van, indications were coolant leaking from the pulley area of the pump, which i may have made worse by overtightening the belt to get rid of a belt slipping noise.

Any end float?
Actually, bearing in mind what can happen if it fails I'd just get on with replacing it.

Alright chaps, seems like a new water pump is in order. Are they difficult to fit? Bearing in mind I’ve done a fair few bits to the van already so know my way around a spanner!

Re: Water Pump Squeak
Changing the water pump was the first main problem I had to deal with, not sure of your fit as there are different types, any bolts that need to be removed should be given a good soak with plus gas or similar, and leave for a while to penetrate take your time undoing any as if they brake you will have more issues, I had to adapt an allen key to undo mine as room was limited. Clean out the allen key slots and ensure you get a good solid connection before undoing, suspect you may have a bit of experience in similar areas.

WHS ^^^
Mr TonyT25 covers most of it. Yet l would take this opportunity to check the metal front to back pipe. It oftens rusts underneath...ie, out of sight. And from inside out too.
Coolant change as well?

Alright, doesn’t sound horrific to do, the pump looks original so I’m assuming the bolts will be tricky to get off!
Re: Water Pump Squeak
Plusgas. Then more Plusgas. Or try a bit of safe localised heat on the pump bolts and two metal pipe allen fasteners.
Ive been using this with excellent results. The flip up nozzle pipe is very handy.
