Df air inlet to Solex carb fixing

Post by nicktennear »

Hi, my air inlet/ elbow/ manifold is currently attached to the carburettor with a cable tie (we've all done it) It's the single hole DF pancake top. Anyone know a part number for a bolt/threaded bar that runs through into the carb? Illustrations show an m5 nut but nothing else.Image

Thanks all

It’s normally a stud fitted to the carb so you might find a part number if you look at the carb diagram but a normal bolt would work just as well I would think.
Haven’t got one to measure but I would guess at about 25-30mm long.

Thanks, I've rummaged in the shed and found the right bit of threaded bar.

So it turns out that the previous owner replaced the Solex Pict 34 5 with a 4 so that's why the pancake was cable tied on. Is the 4 only for an Aircooled? The old Solex 4 came with the van but it's a confirmed dud. The van runs ok (not great at idle and needs a big gulp of petrol to get moving from standing but I out that down to being a DF) so I'm guessing it's been rejetted to work? I found an old invoice for fitting and adjusting the carb and it says 'sourced by owner' so it's all a bit bodgy.

I've had a search around online to find someone to fix the 34 5 but come up short. Any ideas? I'm tempted to just leave it as is.
