Gearbox whine

Post by LeeCarey »

1984 T25 Aircooled

I have a whine, I think from the gearbox as the noise disappears when coasting out of gear. I have heard that adding an additive (such as Molyslip might improve the situation) which could be used rather than a gearbox rebuild.

Any comments gratefully received.

Many thanks

Could it be the clutch release bearing?
when the engine running and you press the clutch in and out do you get the whine also dose the gearbox have oil leaks and have you done a oil change
if no leaks and not changed the oil it’s worth doing a oil change with some additive.
also you will be able to look at the oil drain magnet for metal fragments.
