ok you guys and gals just been to skegness for a week and while all went well on the way and whilst over there on the last night went to do a bit of shopping and heard a strange clonking noise from front diverside wheel area, i stopped got under thinking somethings come loose but all seemed to be in order, anyway, didnt affect the driving of the van so we set of home all fine forgot about it TBH then today we went shopping and heard it again pretty much straight away and seems to be when i am turning right but also and more so when im pulling of and at low speeds any ideas as i use van for work and we goin to a show on fri at shrewsbury??? thanks in advance for any info ROB!!
ok just been to pick up our parrot from freinds and on the way there it was clonking but seems to do on right hand bends and also its coming from the back not the front this may sound weird but it stops when i depress my clutch does this help at all??? plz someone enlighten my fault we goin to our first VW show WITHOUT the kids on fri and am so lookin forward to it but need to sort out whats goin on philippacman is on holiday and noemally he would have a look and sort it but he aint back til thurs and doubt he would wanna look after drivin back from newquay

Jack the van up ,if you have axle stands use them, and check for play in your wheel bearings.

cheers rob and LHD big nuts are fine tightened them a couple of weeks back just strange that it stops when i depress the clutch stef mentioned it may be a loose slave cylinder or the clutch itself on way but aint got the know how to check all this or the drive shaft bolts but will ask around today at some garages i go to see if they can have a butchers but in the mean time keep the ideas comin cant afford to have him of the road cheers folks will keep you posted thanks again!!!

CV joints, innit. Try taking them off and swapping them side to side. If you smear half a sachet of CV grease into either end that should spin them out for another 20K or so.

had a word with one of the mechanics in a place i go to he is gonna have a look for me at 5pm he reckons tyhe drive shaft bolts may have come loose as they tend to do that he said

Rob, put some old gloves on, and waggle those shafts up and down and fore-and aft and twist them too... the boots could be fine, and yet a CV joint badly worn.
Also just take a quick look at the big hub nuts.
If you lift off and re-apply power and it clonks more than a little, it is usually worn CVJs or drive flange bolts as you're being advised. But has been known to be at the hub end, so if nothing underneath, jack it up and waggle those wheels too.

ok folks had the drive shaft bolts tightened up still doin it they were slightly loose so i called steve shaw went down to his unit and he done what you said HARRYMANN and said my drive shaft on rear o/s is on its way out but cant confirm unless he takes it apart but trust his judgement with confidence he is sure he has 1 somewhere so he gonna hoak it out for me how sweet is that so all goin well that should be it sorted will let you all know.
