I always wondered why my Mk1 Golf’s had yellow main beam LEDs. Turns out blue LEDs were not invented until the 1990’s - hence white bulb, with blue cap on our wedges.

Thank you Gents, quite a milestone! I put the Mk2 in for an MOT same day, that passed too. They both did nothing for my heart, hospital waiting room and all that! But what a relief. I can relax now. 8 months, start to finish. Didn’t push too hard on the timeframe. Happy with that. Oh, nearly forgot - it’s previous MOT was in 2006 !
Another shout to all the folk on here sending me parts to achieve this. Great work guys.
Keep those parts you think you’ll never need! Someone will !

Over fueling; popping and banging, my first thought was the vacuum advance not working because the revs don’t drop when I pull the vacuum line off the dizzy. Removed dizzy and sucked on the vacuum line but it doesn’t move the internals via the diaphragm. It doesn’t move the internals on my spare either, have I got two bad dizzys?? Dunno.
But, I’ll come back to that because this cap / although new is already shot. HT lead #4 had a slice out of the rubber, near the cap. I wondering if this caused the short.
This would explain the over fueling if this cylinder hasn't been firing.

The cab lowered will give it a great stance - look forward to seeing the finished article. There’s a couple of proper slammed cab’s around which you’ve probably seen on the old interweb.
I’ve just had a skateboard slammed to go in the bus for when the car shows open up proper:
Radiator Fan - it's not working, as it should. I did the paperclip test on the male connector, slow and high speed fan worked. I also replaced the sensor switch in the bottom right hand corner of the radiator, but the fan is still not working when it gets hot. Ordered a relay : #53: 141 951 253B

Popping: Got the DG dizzy back in, it’s always had this dizzy on the Velle and it works fine now, but it does still pop. So, new spark plugs, the old ones were heavily carboned? Can’t spell, with huge gaps. Anyway, new spark plugs BERU new HT leads, I’m confident ignition system ok now. New amp, new coil. So, what’s left. The only thing left, that I changed during the build was the carburettor accelerator pump. 5 x 1.25ml = 6.75ml @ 3 seconds bursts, according to James’ 2E3 rebuild video. I’ll check that next.
Overheating: 2 stage radiator fan is not coming on. Replaced radiator sensor, short wired the 3-pin mating connector, the 2 stage fan worked.
