Engine advice needed!

Post by teamvan »

Evening everyone.

We've recently returned to the 80-90 world, and have a new van. We could do with some help with a fuel leak issue please.

Its a fuel injection engine, and it has a leak, where the bolt part is on the pictures. Can anyone advise what this is and if this is an easy fix or something more horrendous 🤔

I am going to jump in here first even though I do not have a fuel injection system, but stating the obvious maybe, it looks as if somebody has fitted the bolt into a rubber hose possibly redundant hose and secured it with a jubilee clip to block it up for some reason, could be a proper mod but will be interesting to see what others think.

looks like the pressure test point has had a piece of pipe put over it, possibly lost the correct bolt for the test point and fitted this to fix it, i may have a spare

Yep, that's meant to be blocked off, but not with that extra bit of hose. Should be a small screw straight into the t-piece as said above. It's just a port where you can measure fuel pressure, or to release the pressure in the lines. So nothing horendous don't worry

While you’re down there you could replace the fuel pump blank gasket too, as it’s weeping oil.

20Nm only, don’t crush the gasket.
