Brake servo vacuum pipe

Hi all

The vac tube in the engine bay looks like this...



Very old & tired, but it was functional before I removed it. The hose clip in the middle has just slipped down the hose, it's not there for any particular reason.

I'm struggling to find the bits I need to replace it with. I'm thinking the valve will be fine, but the pipe work is nasty. I'm guessing the hose on the right of this picture is just random rubber hose & anything will do, but what about the plastic pipe on the left of the valve? Also, should the plastic pipe have anything to secure it? It looks tight on the valve, but the where it pushed onto the pipe that goes to the front of the bus, it looks like it was only held on with luck. There was maybe a rubber seal looking thing, but it's pretty much disintegrated.

Any suggestions on what it should look like please & where I can get the replacement bits?

Buy brake vacuum hose, it’s specially reinforced for vacuum, 12 mm I think , change both parts and reuse the valve

There should be a plastic hose clip to hold the pipe to the long pipe from the front 
Brickwerks apparently out of stock on the reinforced pipe and the silicone ones don’t seem to exist anymore

All vehicles use the same pipe, it can be bought pretty much anywhere, doesn’t have to be a Vw specialist

I didn’t know that , but I haven’t had any other vehicle other than a T25s since 2005.....

That looks like normal fuel hose, unless it’s says suitable for vacuum it’s not the correct pipe and will collapse under vacuum.

Thanks for all the replies.

As those of you that have seen my engine thread know, I'm really not that worried about keeping it authentic! 

That ebay hose looks a win to me, engine to valve, then valve to existing tube that runs to the front. It might no look stock, but will be much better than the old junk that's on there.
I'll take a look at the sizes & particularly the tube that's already there, to see how everything can connect up.

Any problems, I'll be back to shout up with photos of the issue!

Yes, most probably it is just a standard one.
But maybe they can get a suitable vacuum hose too.
However if the ebay hose is OK, then no worries.

I was definitely short of that white clip. The rest was there, just showing it's age.

The hose had the white clips too originally but there went brittle so I used spring clips instead.

So I've found the end of the hose that runs down the bus last night & it looks alright once cleaned off. (It had got covered in underseal! lol)
I might see if the hose I've ordered is the correct size to make a good seal & just that both sides of of the valve, with good old jubilee clips all round.

Pipe has come, it's bloody thick walled!

Appears to fit fine onto the existing run down the bus, so I should be good. Shame I need a new 1 way valve, mine is does nothing when tested. Still, That's an easy fix.
