So, as the title says, my current one is one of the old metal ones and it's knackered, had a pinhole in and rusted badly so had to chop it in half and bodge it with some pipe and clamped it. £90 something quid for a plastic pipe is a bit of a con I think. Has anyone made one themselves out of some copper pipe? copper wouldn't react with the coolant would it? was thinking it would be cheaper to pick up some pipe/connectors and a cheap bender with some brazing stuff and make one. Plus I like a good project... but maybe I should finish the ones I have first!

I’ve made a few out of copper and soldered joints, been on 17-18 years no problems

It would be cheaper and a lot less hassle to get a plastic one off one of the breakers who frequent the internet I think .
I have repaired them with rubber pipe before now too .

dear dear...
I will ask around then and see what people want for one of the plastic ones, I am sure the one I have is 90% rust on the inside.

Be aware that there are several variants of the bleed ring.
Carb (possibly early and late), 2.1/efi, also syncro variants of both late 1.9 carb and 2.1 with an extra 7mm connection about halfway along the long leg for the crossover pipe air bleed.
afaik

I have a 2.1 plastic ring on my 1.9 and Ian is right in that there is an extra connector and this can be blanked off.
I have my old metal one that you are welcome to for free if you want it (but would be collection only due to its fragility).

Thanks for the heads up about the difference of the syncro bits.
As I will be doing the syncro conversion AND the 2.1 build for it I guess I will have to get the syncro specific one.
Thanks for the offer 300CE, however I'm in Coventry and with the lockdown I won't be going anywhere til this mess is resolved!
