You don’t need to remove anything but the switch, and no oil will fall out .
The switch unscrews from the housing

Ahh I see Mocki. I thought it was housed in a housing. I even bought a new gasket to replace it.Mocki wrote:You don’t need to remove anything but the switch, and no oil will fall out .

it is in a hosuing but it is bolted into that hosuing which is bolted into the gearbox. just unbolt the switch, nothing else

Is this the switch and cable?AlandAnn wrote:If it's the same as mine;
You need to take out the switch by the gearbox (with the twin spade connector).
Give it a clean and refit but just do it up hand tight then tighten slowly while in reverse until the light goes on.
Failing that, remove the washer and tighten it

Re: Reverse lights no worky ??
yes that is the one, if you pull the plug off and bridge the connections your reverse light should illuminate, if it does then it's a fault with the switch/actuation of the switch, if it doesn't it's a wiring issue/fuse/bulb fault

Re: Reverse lights no worky ??
Pulled it off. Gave it a scratch. Gave it a wiggle. Lights worked. Spot of corrosion on contacts.
I then went to augment reversing lights with LED spots. Forgot to isolate and blew the fuse (#15 if I recall from last night). Schoolboy error.

Re: Reverse lights no worky ??
I had the same issue for a few months, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. I knew for sure that the problem was in the sensor, shorting it would make lights switch on. Removing the washer in the sensor worked for a while, but last week it stopped working again.
Checked the sensor with a multimeter and it was kaput. Replacing resolved the issue, they are relatively cheap and easy to find.
I installed a reverse camera, since it connects to the reverse light I will know immediately if issue re-occurs.

Mine's given up the ghost as well so I suspect I've got the same issue. And I've got a dash cam with reversing camera so I'll be doing the same as you!

Re: Reverse lights no worky ??
I presume that's seeing if it closes the circuit when in reverse?
