Mabelthebus. Don't be put off by a 1.6 non turbo. Yes they are slow, no denying that at all. But they do return a good mpg. If you ever want to do a conversion to a 1.9 non turbo or even a 1.9 TD then at least you will have most of the bits you will need already fitted. I can just about live with my 1.6d and I use mine to tow !

Most important is to buy your van on its bodywork, rust is not a problem if you can see it, it's the patched up hidden stuff which is a nightmare.

Don't worry to much about the inside, my previous T25 was very basic inside with just a rock and roll bed fitted and nothing else. It was great as I had a full size bed.

I made a basic unit containing a fridge and a stove and one cuboard for my pans, it took me a couple of days but I enjoyed making it.

The best thing you can but to go with your van is a tunnel awning for about £100. (Devans in WSM sell tham) You don't live in your van anyway - you just sleep in there at night.

Its nice to sit in the awning of an evening and get bladdered. - hell I want to go camping in mine right now! But mines out on loan again!

That is one problem with a van - people borrow them. Mine goes everywhere, its at the bristol Ballon Festival this week.

Hi Splendid, thats all I want in the world at the moment, a nonpatched little t25 with a few little honest warts and a nice little diesel engine (petrol will do though) and a bed. The ones I have seen so far were too scabby and hiding things too, I'm sure.
I have got some relatives (with pots of cash) who are the first to borrow something that they won't splash out on themselves(I suppose that explains theyr'e bank balance), I wouldn't mind but they could buy and sell me and I doubt very much whether they would lend me something of a simular value. So my bus is going to be unreliable, even if it isn't

Yes, i'm watching that one (St georges colours are a little dodgy 'round here) but it does 'fit the bill' in every way.
I get free rail travel so getting to the pickup should be ok.
From the description, can you think of anything that needs to be asked?

Well it looks real nice to me. If I owned it I'd get rid of the red stripe and just keep it plain white.
You need to look at it really and Very soon. Its going to sell for about £2500 or £3k would be my guess if its as good as it looks.
You have noticed that he is willing to end the auction early havn't you?
I'd pull the funds and go along armed with a pocket of cash and make an offer. If it is as good as it looks then dont mis it.

What you have to weigh up is what you can afford..
Even if you do buy a bus that's not so great there will always be someone in the same boat looking for a cheap camper to get away for the weekend.
If you can't afford a great looking bus, buy one that at least you know someone will want after youv'e finished with it because by the time you come to sell, it will probably be a lot better than when you bought it...

After getting down and tasting the oil it appears to be gear oil so I assume my main shaft seal is leaking,

when you change the main shaft oil seal make sure you check the spigot bearing is there and OK.
otherwise you will be changing that main shaft seal again, again, again and again.... this is from expereiance.............

for what we can afford

my only concern is Aircooled engine. any opinions about them would be appreciated.
