I refurbed mine with satin black spray for the base and some lazer cut metalic sticky letters from fleabay for about £5. Fairly easy to do, you just have to be careful placing the individual letters on, it turned out really well.
I want to do the same, the ideas I have is to spray paint it all black then go over with a gloss mini roller ( good one not cheap shif) to highlight. Roll must have minimum but even layer of paint and steady hand.
Or I might get a bottle of masking fluid from Art or model shop and after the backing spray has dried coat the flat back and edge of display with fluid ( like CAD dont leave any gaps) then spray with topping colour. When dry rub/peel off masking fluid and have 3D lettering- longer job and much more patience required.
Must state these are only ideas so havent experimented let alone done yet.
Good luck
Peter
Yes ^^^ thats where I got my inspiration from, I did refurb my 'Camping' badge with a chrome pen but it didn't last. The stick on chrome letters work well, they're just a bit fiddly.
