Hi
I’ve just discovered a leak on my injector pump. The leak is coming from underneath the flat plate which has three bolts on it and is slightly triangular. I have up and down movement on this and when I push down the leak stops. I’ve read that there are O rings that sometimes perish and need replacing. How easy or difficult is it to replace these rings? Does the pump need to be removed or can they be replaced when the pump is on? Any advice would be appreciated.

I,ve attached a photo of where the leak is coming from.
Its coming from under the triangular shaped plate. When i push down on the central nut the leak stops. There seem to be too much play up and down.
If i undo this plate is there a seal underneath that can be replaced or do i have to take the whole pump off. My engine skills are very limited.

The seal you need is a little blue LDA seal( available from brickwerks) I managed to replace it on my van. First I removed the nut from the “triangular” plate,(on the right in your pictures) (did not loosen the bolt to the left ! ) done with care as the plate will rotate as you do so and you need to avoid straining the LDA unit etc . Next I popped the operating rod ball socket/ ball apart so the plate could be removed completely. I then used a piece of bicycle spoke with a sharpened and bent point to pierce and hook out the old seal taking care not to scratch the surfaces the seal seals against or rotating the shaft(that the nut came off) . The seal is fairly soft and I managed to get it out despite its shaft being still in place . Can’t remember if there is a correct way round for the seal to be fitted or if both sides are identical ( if so note which way round the original was) . New seal easy enough to poke into place with a suitable blunt instrument.! When you refit the triangular plate and nut take care not to strain anything as it will rotate as you tighten the nut. Note .. the triangular plate has a hole with flats to locate with flats on the shaft (below the nut ). So possible to do with the pump in position.Not sure if shaft is meant to have up and down movement and can’t get to my van yet to have a look. click

Ive just ordered a seal from Brickwerks and I will have a go. It sounds more tricky than anything else and a bit of patience needed.
Anyone else got some advice and it would be gratefully received.

Aye, I remember doing my seal too. Much the same story as Cecil. I do have a memory of my heart in my mouth as I took the nut off and the pin dropped (a little?) into the pump body. Can’t remember if that actually happened, but if I was doing it again I’d be careful. I do also have a memory of missing a washer under the nut, but memory is a fickle thing. Just be careful out there.

Hi Guys
Had a go at replacing seal. All good and no more leak, I know now what you mean about fiddly. The old seal was hard and obviously needed replacing. At a cost of £4.97 plus P&P. bargain.
