Hot brake drum NSR

Thanks for the excellent postcard!

Possibly less stuffed, we will see. I can’t see any of the unions leaking on the brake or clutch servos but this 600mm (length) braided hose was very wet. So, I’ll try just replacing this first. Hope. Might have been cut before as it should be 700mm.

Yep, there's a good chance it's that, has the plastic cracked or is it just simple hose that has perished ?

The jubilee clip (not me!) may have punctured it.

I’m not convinced all the reservoir emptied out of this though. My money is on this puppy. We’ll see.

Perhaps, whip it off and bench test it. Looks like you are going to have to wait for a genuine one anyway, unless you just bought the last one,

But how do you explain the pipe above being so wet ?

Possibly both, my bet.

Had to go to another supplier, for a Meyle. Brickwerks no stock.

Do you have an explanation for this though................. unless the answer is "it's been damp for a while and I just hadn't noticed it"

The shorter pipe is indicative of a previous problem and the weepy bit being cut off

Answers crossed - yep probably both

Removal 2 x 13mm bolts (long reach) 1 x 12mm spanner for hydraulic line. That’s the easy bit.

Getting the pin back in the replacement clutch cylinder; blind & whilst upside down...tad challenging.

That clutch cylinder is a right pain in the derriere - did you check for wear at the other end whilst you were there as that is more of a pain.

All done. Bled the system. I’d say that was a Haynes 3 spanner difficulty rating, but felt like 5. Took the drivers seat out and lay on my back with head under pedals! Here is the offending article, looks aftermarket.

The OSF air vents now work, saw they were disconnected whilst I was under there; bonus :)

Clutch pedal soft and not uncomfortable to press, bit like a new car would be so that's not right. Crunching into gear when cold. Need to bleed the clutch slave too me thinks.

Yep, unless the pipe remained full and the master cylinder wasn't pre-filled / allowed to gravity bleed (and even then you would be fortunate), you'll need to bleed the air out from the slave end.

Should be a doddle :)
