Tailgate & indicator screw issue

Post by bernard1973 »

Hi

The screws on my indicators & rear lights were looking tired so I ordered some new stainless ones. When they've come they are smaller thread and with smaller heads than the originals (and the front and rear are also different lengths). I've had 3 T25's and the screws have all looked like the ones in my van now.
I've contacted the seller but he's saying that his are definitely correct and someone must have put bigger screws in mine at some time, and stripped the threads??
My van is a german firetruck and totally original - I know for a fact they've never been changed in the past. Can anyone confirm? :?

original screws are B4.8 x 38mm
to fit a B4.8 snap nut
4.8 equates to a number 10 screw I think
so diameter over thread should be 4.8mm like these https://www.westfieldfasteners.co.uk/Se ... gLnxfD_BwE

front indicator should be B4.8 x50mm

You appear to be a human technical manual Aidan. Consistantly impressive knowledge ;-)

Thanks for all the replies lads, I knew he had to be wrong as the screws he's sent just look much smaller when fitted.
