Trouble after head gasket/seal change

Post by Die Bulli Familie »

Just changed the head gasket/seal today. All seemed well and the engine turned well by hand and then on the starter.

When I try to start the engine it won't start. Was running out of time but checked each plug had a good spark and fuel was going thru the carb, but still won't start.

Has anyone else had the same happen to them, what have I forgotten?, Have I knocked the timing somehow? Have I got any compression?

Any advice for tomorrows troubleshooting welcome.

Never worked on petrol Van's only diesels, but

Only you can answer your question about compression and is a good place to start, petrol compression testers are fairly cheap.

otherwise Timing, valves clearances??

Yeap, problem is no compression, had the head off again today to check but all seemed o.k. there. Reset tappets and this time it seems better just need to fit rest of the bits and try starting again.
