It cuts out won't start straight away, leave it for a while go back and sometimes it will restart. inconvenient at petrol stations and in grid locks on motor-ways Embarassed

there you go folks - sorry didn't say I was able to solve the problem. Sounds like hot starter problem. What engine is it?/ Petrol I presume, Aircooled or watercooled???

Sounds to me like all you need is a new HT coil. They can break down and when they do these are the syptoms. When the HT coil cools it will run again just fine.

Dontcha think a rough clue as to what its is, what is wrong or needs fixing might filter out those who might be able to help from those who might not?

I had a similar problem, kept cutting out at lights, or when slowing down at junctions, sometimes used to restart immediately, sometimes took ages, turned out to be a very loose wiring connector on the coil, renewed it and no more probs.
