Hi Peeps
Electrics not my strong point. Fridge just stopped working on mains. OK on gas and battery. Electrical hook up not possible at present. Mains plug sockets in van working. My question is do the trip switches on the RCCB Unit have fuses or is it just a trip. I pulled mains lead with everything still switched on and wonder whether I have blown a fuse but can't see one. All the fuses in the electrical control panel are OK.
Picture of unit. Am I looking for a fuse that does not exist?
Thanks

No, no fuses in that box. You have a 40amp RCD and and a 5amp and 10amp MCBs (which are basically fuses) there. The RCD will trip on a earth leak, the MCBs will trip on an overload or short.
If the RCD and MCB remain on and your mains sockets are still working then the fault will be downstream with the fridge. The fridge will have a fuse in the plug. That might be hidden in a cupboard or behind the fridge. Try changing that. If not that then element may have failed...

Many thanks. Will continue to look for a fuse. From memory it is wired direct to the 5 amp RCD. Unfortunately my volt meter has run out of battery so am not doing well. Ran fridge last night on gas but on a slope so just seems to heat everything up!

If it is wired direct it’s possible that the MCB is bust or there is a loose connection. You’ll need a multi meter to check it. If in any doubt, best get a sparky to take look. Safety first!!
For the fridge to work on gas it needs to be within 2 or 3 degrees of dead level.
Many thanks. Working again. Don't know why. Perhaps I assumed it would run on electric whatever the angle. But a level platform is also needed.
Good news is I have cold beers again.
