Polo advice

I’m taking my 17 year old to see an 89 Polo c tomorrow- he seems to have developed a liking for ropey old VWs as well - luckily though he’s an apprentice mechanic.

Polo looks ok and has only done 50k - was wondering if anyone had any tips as to what to look out for with it?

It appears to be unmolested

Anyway it’ll make another lovely garden feature to annoy the neighbours and to go with its older, rustier bigger brother...
