I have a 1983, 2ltr Aircooled T25 and today took him out for a drive. After about 20mins of normal driving i just lost all power and then as i pulled over he just cut out?? After checking the engine and finding nothing loose i started him again and drive fine to my destination!! On the way home he did the same, just lost power and then cut out. I left hime for 5mins and then he was fine again. Anyone have any ideas?
Cheers

Fuel starvation? You still getting a spark when it dies?

Re: Power problems
Does it splutter to a halt, or just suddenly die?
If it suddenly dies, I would suggest the ignition amplifier maybe starting to fail. Mine did this and gradually got worse, to the point I could only drive about a mile and it would cut out (then would take a long length of time before it would restart).
Worth a try.....

Re: Power problems
I no longer have a ignition amplifier as i have installed a new SVDA distributor, so there are less electrics to go wrong!!
Sorry to sound ignorant but but how do i know if i still have a spark when it dies? When the van starts to lose power the ignition stays on, but cuts out as i come to a stop.
