Max Min Dipstick

Hi All

Does anyone know the difference between the Max and Min marks on the dipstick for a 2L Aircooled CU engine.
I seem to recall it is half a litre, but not sure.

1987 VW Englisch manual states 1.0 litre between max and min marks.
