Yes, I fitted a stainless one whilst the engine was out. The mild steel one starting leaking about three years ago and lasted about three years with a patch over the leak made from steel plate and silicon sealent! It seems to corrode where it does due to debris thrown off the wheel and high temperatures speeding up the corrosion.
