Remove Brake Back Plate Issue

Post by InventEd »

I am trying to remove the back plates for the rear brakes. everything is off except the pivot at the bottom. I can't get it and the back plate to come off. From the manual it looks like the dowel pin should stay with the bearing housing and the pivot should 'slide' off the pin with the back plate. Manual says to lever the pivot off the pin with a screwdriver. I can't get it to budge.

Is this the right method or should I be trying to drive the pin out from the back of the bearing housing?

Any advice appreciated!

Yes, tap them out using a good ~10mm drift and club hammer from the inside.
Syncrosport (taking a break as of summer 2024)
Volkswagen Transporter, reloaded.
