Hi
I have a 84 westy 1.9 WBX and I'm off to Le Mans on Wednesday
I was running a few checks on the weekend and found the alternator wasn't putting out a voltage when running ?
The belt is new and tight and all electrical connections were good I tried a new voltage regulator still no joy
So I got a new 90A alternator (from eurocarparts)fitted it yesterday and still nothing. Iv heard that it could be a fault on the blue wire holding the voltage regulator off ?
I'm short on time and any help would be greatly received
Thanks
Alternator help !

Re: Alternator help !
I would first check the red wire from the alternator is still connected to the starter motor and in good condition.

Re: Alternator help !
Ok thanks
From what I can remember (as I'm at work at the minute) there are two red cables (both ok)back to the battery and the blue signal cable that's it
The starter cable is straight off the battery
And if it helps Iv got the early wiring with bullet fuses

Re: Alternator help !
I forgot it was a Diesel direct to the battery, still check the connections. Then remove the blue wire from the alternator and switch on the ignition check the voltage at the end of the blue wire it should be near battery voltage, this checks the alternator has a supply to start the alternator charging.
