The backlight was too bright on the LCD digital clock I fitted, I put a 10k resistor in series with the LED which did the job.

I put a 25k resistor in, depends on how bright you are comfortable with.

In my van the previous owner had a rev counter installed on the dash. Though it's never worked. It never bothered me & had the van 10 years.
Though, I am in the mood for tinkering now. I might try and get this rev counter working & troubleshoot the wiring.
When you say red ignition. That is just power source, which shuts off with the engine?

This is what I've got. Works fine.

as its popped up, and kind keep on subject...i have this one, and while it works, it shows me as idling at 3k, and as soon as i move it hits 8k limit! am i doing something wrong?

The backlight comes on when I put the lights on.
I notice there are 2 earths cable. So is 1 earth for the light and other earth for the actual meter?
If so, could be the earth on the dial part or one of the connection wires come adrift?


Correct gnd wires are one for lights and one for Rev counter.

Correct gnd wires are one for lights and one for Rev counter.

Cheers. I'll check the wiring later in the week. It must be one connection that come adrift somewhere. Probably the earth for the dial.
