Thanks for all your input, due to time or lack of it I have decided to let an expert have a look at it, luckily managed to get it booked in with Steve at Gasure next week.

Just a thought.... is it still on the same fuel that was lying in it for months?
Modern ethanol containing fuel goes off very quickly and can clog up your carb.
'86 1.9 DG, 4 spd, tintop, camper conversion.

Hi, no, it has had new fuel in. Its going in tomorrow, so fingers crossed it will be sorted.

We have the van back from Steve at Gasure UK and it is running like a dream. He cleaned the carb and made adjustments, he said the carb was quite clean anyway, went through all electrics and all checked out fine, long story short it was the tank, although the tank had been replaced quite recently it has something in it (yet to be identified) which was blocking the outlet intermittently, so new tank, lines and filter and its all good. Drives like a different van now.

I have to say what a great bloke for fitting us in despite being fully booked.

Rubber grommet from base of breather pipe to tank.. fell in when being forced into place..
