Steering appears to go very stiff/heav just before full lock

Hi Guys,

My steering appears to go very heavy or stiff just before I reach full lock when turning in a clockwise circle. Anti-clockwise is fine. Any suggestions what might be causing this?

It turned out to be the rubber gaiter on the steering rack had twisted when a local garage adjusted the front wheel alignment. One had come loose and the other twisted. They put it right quickly but very sloppy work in the first place.
