Gearbox / Clutch release lever

Post by ben50 »

Hi,

First time I've fitted a flywheel, clutch and gearbox

All seem pleasantly simple, now it's on though, I'm not sure it's quite right, the clutch release lever seems to have a lot of movement, about 3 inches of swing travel does that sound right?

It's on an AGG golf gti mk3 engine, I'm using a black diamond jx diesel clutch / flywheel set up.

Cheers,

Ben

did you fit the release bearing ?
there should only be 10-15mm movement of the arm when mated to the engine

Cheers, Yeah the release bearing is fitted on lever. I guess I need to whip the gearbox back off and double check nothing is out of place?

Forgot to say that it's a 4 speed DK Aircooled box

Ok, I'm officially useless, just spilt the engine and gear box to find no release bearing :o(
Really weird I could have sworn there was one on there when it came back from the rebuild!

Guess I'm not fitting the engine this weekend.

Thanks for the heads up Aidan :o)

I'm presuming I shouldn't reuse the one on the gearbox I'm swapping even though it's only done approx 6k miles?
Are Gsf bearings ok or should I hold fire for the brickwerks delivery? Wish I still lived in Leeds!

Cheers
