Breaker bar which size

Post by Sir Brixalot »

Just done rear shocks on one side, took ages eventually used the table leg as a scaffold pole. Going to get a breaker bar either 600cm or 750sm. Which is better for. I'm tempted to go for the longer one but is it too long to manoeuvre? (taken out of context time :D )

Horses for courses, I have a 24 inch and an 18 inch, sometimes you just can't get a 24 inch one in the space.
Rear hubs however need bigger and you have space.

you can buy a 24 inch for 10 quid delivered buy a few

I should add I keep a 24 inch in the van, you try getting the wheel bolts off without one.

keep an 18 inch in the car too, the brace they give you is pathetic.

the draper extending one that goes upto 60cm is versatile and not badly made, though the head on it now is pants as it has a release pin in it which weakens it and is unnecessary but simpler heads available, you shouldn't need massive bars, plus gas (rost-of), patience, plus gas, patience, heat

I use a 3/4" x 1m one which is good for most things.

Cheers gent. One winging its way to me from the tax dodgers as I want it tomorrow. I did have an extendable but it stopped locking and I'd forgotten I'd binned it.

Got it, the 750mm (nearly 30"). I reckon the 600 is a better size, this is too long to use easily in the space provided by jacking up the rear. Having said that I had the second side shock done in just over half an hour, miles quicker than the first side yesterday.
