Great weekend away need to stop whistling windows

I've been on my first outing in my 1983 high top westfalia joker had a great time everything working perfect. I've seen plenty t25s on my travels. You might of seen me too brown and cream been all round Wales .I've got a problem with whistling drivers side window. Think it's coming from the quater light. Would a wind deflector solve this problem? If so think full deflector would be best. Where's the best for these?

What? You have a new T25 and the only thing wrong with it after your first long trip is a wind-whistle? This must be a unique moment in VW history. Congratulations for achieving the impossible.

Inspect the front window seals carefully for both nicks, damage but also a tight, secure fit. They are easy to change yourself if necessary - it was a new driver's side seal that cured wind-noise for me. Also, check that the trim-strip on the roof gutter lip that ends by the windscreen is securely attached. A dab of automotive silicone will seat it properly if it's a little loose. Finally, a fair old wind racket can be created in the cab at speed by leaving the fresh air slider turned fully to upper air flow for the windscreen - adjust it leftwards to eliminate that cab noise. I only mention it because the whistling of wind in the wrong vents can seem like it's coming from outside.

It's not that new to me had it 8 months, bodywork,new brakes all round, tappets set,new oil pump esparcher heater repairs ,rims and tyres , wheel alignment, awning. In fact the awning I've got is a tuff trek I must recommend half the price of fiamia, great piece of kit.There will be plenty more I've not listed but the weekend I've had makes it all worth while....many more to come

Mine used to whistle whenever either window was slightly open, anything up to a couple of inches,got a pair of wind deflectors from Brickworks, about £20, sorted it straight away.

Ah, that sounds more like it, a nice long list of work to make the rest of us feel less bad! Well, great timing as far as getting the van ready. Summer is before us...

HURRAH! We picked our 1984 Westy up on Friday, went camping on Saturday (for the first time, obviously). Everything worked, nothing "broke". And what didn't work soon did work once I read the instructions . Long may it last/Wishful Thinking.

Now the whistling window has been brought up, mine does the same but not enough to wipe the grin off my face when I'm "speeding" down the motorway (...at 55mph). Will try giving it a thorough deep-clean because it's bound to irritate me in the end, or get worse and then irritate me.

Later models had extra rubber seals on upper front edge of door and also on A post to close off the door to post gap. Can be fitted to early models.

My one does this too - always reminds me of a boiling kettle. Opening the quarter light solves the problem

I had a problem with whistling on both sides, tried deflectors but no better, then by chance i saw a picture of a door seal on a site and noticed that mine had come out slightly from the recess it is supposed to fit in to all around both doors, 2 minutes to gently tuck it back in and hey presto whistling now a thing of the past, bliss!
