Removing Autohomes roof

Anyone got any tips on removing an Autohomes Kamper roof? (the complete lot, fibreglass and pop top section). Think i might have found a replacement for my soggy roof!
Can't see any obvious fasteners, surely it aint just stuck to the roof with sealant?

Cut cable that works catches on front and remove rear catch.

Disconnect gas struts by removing circlip & pin. do this when roof down and get a friend to lever up enough to do this or cut away brown plastic surround to get to them. ROOF IS VERY HEAVY

Lever off piano hinges front & rear on bottom boards of pop up roof.

Take 2 bits of 4x2 or similar and slide across bus either end of pop up.

Get help to slide roof off using timbers. ( I was lucky I parked next to a skip!!!)

Remove gas struts,grab handles, windows, seals and anything else 'Ebayable' off old pop top.

Take off strip n/s and o/s around hole in vehicle roof. Remove 3 screws each side. usually hidden in carpet lining or similar remove.

Unscrew rear bed board if there is one and remove front bed boards.

Angle grind rivets front & rear in white Fibreglass surround and remove any screws that may be fixinf surround around roof hole.

Give a bit of leverage and grind cut away any other fixings that become obvious as you lever.

Lift off fibreglass surround. (Leave galvanised angles on rear of roof at rear to assit fixing new bed board if having hi top.)

Place piece of plywood on hole and fix down. Lots of silicon outside in gaps between metal & wood frame. (very important ) and drive to timber Technician or Yorkshire conversions for new high top.

If havinh a Hi-top EMail us for the idiots guide to lining and how to enjoy the resin fumes. May be able to assist with lining carpet as I think I must have bought a years output from a carpet mill in error.!

Mate Simon from Haworth removed his last year and had a Yorkshire conversions roof fitted ( as indeed have I ). Same roof as Timbertech fits and both of us are very happy with ours. The roof took us a morning to remove and is not difficult but is as Speleobod suggests very heavy. I was amazed at the weight. We managed to lift it off despite Si being over 6 feet and therefore an ideal size and myself at the other end and a towering 5ft 7 and somewhat vertically challenged. Best of luck with changeover. By the way Speleobod, Simon is one of my caving mates, wonder how many troglodites actually use this site? I would be interested in your idiots guide to lining by the way just to see how you went about it, cheers John.

Cheers for the comprehensive answer Speleobod, much appreciated. I'm intending to fit another pop-top, side hinged type; ain't really keen on the high top look. I know what u mean about the roof being heavy too, tried to lift it with 2 struts removed and it's back breaking! Might be all the water that the roof's absorbed in the last few years maybe?

Badger, there is someone in the classified selling a leisuredrive pop top which sounds in decent nick. Didnt know if you were going to go for new but if not this might be worth taking a look at, cheers John.

Cheers John, i'm off to look at the leisuredrive roof today, fingers crossed it'll be ok....

It was, the roof's off now! Almost ready to fit the leisuredrive roof.
