Injection pump leak

Post by Cecil »

-jx engine
Just got this years first adventures planned starting Monday but I just noticed that I have a fuel leak from the shaft that enters injection pump body and is operated by the LDA. There is approx half a millimetre of side play wear detectable on the shaft. The van was not used over the winter but started 1st time.

So some advice please.

Might a new shaft seal stop the leak.

Where could I obtain a new seal.

Can it be fitted without dissmantelling the pump.

I don't feel it's safe to drive. - help.

Yes a new " blue " seal will fix it( Google " Brickwerks " for the seal ) as a temporary fix put a thin washer on top of the seal.
Good luck.
I dont think, so I'm not[do I exist?]

Thank you for your replies .Had missed seal when I was looking on brickwerks ,late last night ! but now have one ordered .
The tip about the temporary fix with the washer was perfect, given the weekend is apon us. I found l already had one washer in there so I added another thin one(had to file it out to fit) gave it a test drive - leak gone- drove well-happy . Trip out next week back on . Hope I don't have much trouble hooking the old seal out when I go to fit the new one when we return !
By the way coincidentally we bought our van from los gallados a year ago ,not so far from albox !

We purchased van from a German fella ,think it had been in Germany about 20 years and Spain about 10 so it's got minor issues in some of the usual areas . Keeping a close eye on LDA shaft and will while we are on our trip !

After our trip away with the temporary fix I had the new (blue) seal waiting for me in the letter box .I fashioned a bicycle spoke to a pointed hook , poked it into the old seal and hooked it out without any bother, new seal went in easy enough . 4 weeks now no leak , I can safely say it's sorted. Thanks for your help .
