Snapped Aerial

Post by Danielsan4D »

Hi all.

I have a snapped aerial on the van. Could anyone suggest a place for a cheap replacement? I'm very much an amateur when it comes to these things but reckon I can fit it myself with a few tutorial videos! Pics below.

Cheers
Dan

That's great. Thanks!

On Brickwerks, it asks about a drilling template. What is this?

It's in case there is not an existing hole.
In your case just choose no.

Before you order it might be worth removing your snapped aerial and measuring the length of the base that the mast collapses into and comparing it. The reason I say this is that I've only ever noticed the factory spec aerial on the nearside, I'm not sure it will fit on the offside due to clearance for the base? I think the BW drilling template is also for nearside fitting.

I encountered this on my van (LHD) - it came with a bee-sting aerial on the offside, I removed it and bought a Hirschmann aerial from BW but it wouldn't fit - perhaps the hole was in the wrong place though. :?

I still have the Hirschmann if you're interested in it, happy to measure the base height to compare too.

Here's a guide for fitting a new aerial (note it is on opposite side to your aerial)...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w3unmzTQnw" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

At about 45 secs that shows the hole the base passes through on the nearside. Do you have this hole on your van on the offside?
