Help needed 2.0 cu

Post by Professor plumb »

Noticed a strange thing happening, van not as responsive as it usually is.starts as normal just seems to have lost a bit of go. Felt the exhaust gases and the left exhaust is hot and right is cold ?? Any ideas where to start looking as I've just got it finally ready to mot and had a feeling the emissions could be a problem. Many thanks in advance as beginning to think it's never going to take us camping

Hello,

Cold on 1 bank.. means you have an electrical HT problem..

or.... if you have 'enthusiastically' adjusted the valves..and lost compression..

What is the ignition type..??

Photos are good..

Cordialement,

Check for any air ingress leaks around the carbs. Make sure the carbs and manifold nuts are tight (they do come loose)

Checked for leaks all seams tight, leads on correct 1-4-3-2 firing order. Tried different rotor arm and cap , made no difference, will get new leads tomorrow and try that, having problems with pictures but will keep trying.

OK, so distributor says 1432.. but does 1 go to 1 and 2 to 2... marked on the tinware.

Also..recent Powerspark, or similar, distributor...

Q: were the leads long enough....no forcing required... :?:

This video may help:

Do you have/can use a voltmeter.. :?:

Cordialement,

:ok

PS.. someone really parano would just drop the valve cover and check to see that all is well...
