fuel lines
These fuel lines were fitted 2 years ago when I did my engine conversion.
They were sold as ethanol resistant. Clearly they are not fit for purpose
I have just replaced with 100% ethanol resistant pipe from Brickwerks.

Re: fuel lines
Why do you say that they are not ethanol resistant ? Do you run your fuel along the outside of the fuel pipes! That is no indication of the fuel causing deterioration - cut a piece lengthwise so that the inside is shewn to prove that it has been done by the fuel and not external factors.

Re: fuel lines
Even if not would you say they are fit for purpose at 2 years old! I have had the same problem.

Re: fuel lines
I would expect a lot longer life, yes, but the beef is about ethanol resistance ( or not ).

Re: fuel lines
Not being an expert on the effects of ethanol I assumed in some way that it rots the pipes.
Yes I know this is the outside you are seeing in the pics. Surely the pipe should last longer than 2 years?

Re: fuel lines
Looking at what R9 is capable of carrying:
Fuel Injection Synthetic Rubber Hose 15 g/m²/day
100 PSI
Inner Resistant To Chemical Attack, Swelling, And Permeation By Gasoline, Oxidized ("Sour") Gasoline, Ethanol Extended Gasoline, Diesel Fuel, And Oil Or Lubricants Or Vapours.
Oil, Ozone & Heat Resistant Outer
So the outer is not ethanol proof!
I use Lloyds rated marine fuel hose for the petrol heaters (but R9 is supposed to be better!)
J1527, iso7840-A1 which is rated for 10% ethanol.

Re: fuel lines
If it seems cheap, stay clear seems to be the maxim with hose. I tried various hoses from ebay but some didn't even come with the rating markings.
I have been getting mine from these guys http://hoseworld.com/ and have no complaints so far. ( They were the only people that offered 3.5mm ID hose as well)
Gates "Barricade" offering may well be your solution if you feel that it is ethanol that is causing this deterioration (I am not convinced yet without seeing inside) as it is rated for 100% Ethanol.

Looks like the same stuff I had Badger and had the same problem. I've replaced everything with Cohline hose now:
