Carburetor Thermostat 2 Litre Air Cooled CU

Post by Tudor Cudd »

Hello All
I am in the process of refurbishing the carburetors (Solex PDSIT 34) Can anyone help me please. My VW service manual reads:

"Thermostat check: relief drilling free above 24 degrees C, closed below 19 degrees C "

What exactly does this mean? I can see something within the relief drilling that doesn't appear to move be it hot or cold, should I see something when the temperature varies?

Thanks in anticipation

Evening

I think perhaps you are talking about the idling enrichment? No it is the tubular threaded item that screws into the base (at the rear of the left hand carb) adjacent to the blanking plug that blanks of access to the main jet.

Thankyou
