Rear Shocks

Post by crazyhorse »

Morning all,

Had a strange knocking sound from rear of the van for a while now esp going over bumps

Had a look yesterday (It was sunny so I could spend the day faffing about) and made a discovery.

One on the right is tight within trailing arm, while the one on the left you can move about. looks like there is something missing

right side

left side

Should I replace?? Tried tightening left one but i cant tighten it anymore. Also which ones to get. I was thinking of getting a lift kit, but that will have to wait for a while so are the standard ones ok, I dont want the van to drop lower than its height at the mo.

One more question, I fancy doing this myself rather than paying a garage about £100 to do it not including parts.

Can I get away with a jack and then a support for the trailing arm.

Have faith, it really is a case of supporting the weight of the van, undo the bolts and replace. Take longer to make one of them fancy coffees! The missing piece is the outer rim of the rubber bush, appears to have done a bunk!
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

If you can get to ( and undo ) the two bolts ,you don't need to jack up the van,the wheel does get in the way a bit though!
I dont think, so I'm not[do I exist?]
