Dash PCB Puzzle

Temp gauge on my pop top does not work, previous owner had an aftermarket gauge fitted, I'd like to get the original working so I reconnected it ( hence the black sleeve) but no joy.

On inspection the temp sender wire goes to pin 6 which is not connected on the PCB

It looks to me that the gauge is on pin 4 , I assume PCB has been changed but I can't find any models with gauge on pin 4

Can I move the wire in the connector?

everything else works which seems odd.

Any ideas?

Yes I know thanks but look at my PCB there is clearly no connection to pin 6 and there is a connection to pin 4.

Just a thought, is it possible PCB was replaced and an Aircooled one used, that would account for 6 having no apparent path and also for the other wires not being where they 'should be' in the connector block on a late van (4 should be high beam indicator blue/white wire)?

Nothing wrong with the connector or wiring, it matches the wiring diagram exactly.
buzzer of doom works so can't be an Aircooled or early watercooled PCB
I didn't check if 4 connects to 6 on the PCB somewhere else

Oops, sorry, diagram i had saved was wrong then! I have a PCB here and yep youre right, 6 'loops' onto 4 where the multiplug slips over

excellent, so PCB OK gauge not working, next step is to remove gauge and see why/replace.

Is there definitely no damage to the conductive material/path on the PCB? Worth taking off that plastic shroud that the plug slips into and having a lookm if you haven't already

On the back of the gauge there are three threaded posts with nuts and washers on to connect to the PCB. One is earth, one the 10v supply from the voltage regulator, and the third is the signal from the temperature sender (variable resistor). Check all 3 with your meter to see what's going on. I have seen several with corroded washers causing poor connections, resulting in low readings or continued flashing red light problems. Sometimes the nuts are just loose!
