Reading light bulbs - LED or filament?

Post by itchyfeet »

My Poptop has reading lights, same bayonet fitting as a tail light bulb, 12V 12W

Can't find these anywhere but would be nice to use lower power LED as well.

tail light bulbs are lost inside and don't give good light distribution
LED replacements largely look small as well so will be up inside with poor distribution - ugly too.

Anybody got an bright ideas or suggestions?

A yacht chandlery might be worth a shot?

Thanks but unfortueately that Ba15s is too big at 45mm diameter, 80mm long

My bulb is 35mm diameter and 55mm long, bayonet is 14mm diameter
it must have a code though if only I could find it.

I think if it were me, I'd be stripping those units down and modding them to take a more useful bulb socket type. LED a no-brainer in terms of battery drain and for reading they have to be warm white. They were nice lights in their day but the form factor places enormous limitations on what can be fitted.

Serious lack of time Ralph, I'm hoping to spend the time camping rather than working, looking for the easy option.
