Van not starting

My van is playing up and it wont start on the key for some reason although it will start with a tow.Its a 1.9D and I have checked the fuel lines and the tank for dirt.The glow plugs are working ok and so is the fuel pump...any ideas what the problem might be?..After a short tow it starts fine and drives ok .This only started last week when I started it with the key and then went to drive off and it just died out and wouldn't start again...as I said it will start and drive ok after being towed by another vehicle..

Have you checked fuel lines? possibly air in system from degraded pipes. I'd check/replace the line from tank to filter and filter to pump. Had similar with mine a while ago, they looked fine but when squeezed where obviously perished in places, and this sorted it.

while you're at it have a look at/replace the leak off pipes between the injectors, only a 5 minute job as push fit and a couple of £ for the pipe. Diesels don't like air in system!

Turned out to be the glow plug relay needing replacing
